Wu Daidai was born in a musical family in 1989. She started learning cello with her mother at the age of 7. In 2001, she was admitted to the special recruitment class of Xi’an Conservatory of Music with the first place in her major and studied with Professor Zhao Zhenxiao. In 2007, she was admitted to the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music of the National University of Singapore and received a full scholarship to study under cellist Qin Liwei. In 2011, she was admitted to the Royal Northern College of Music as the only full scholarship winner. In 2012, she joined the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and served as the guest cellist of the Xi’an Symphony Orchestra. In 2015, she served as an assistant to Qin Liwei, a cello professor at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music of the National University of Singapore. At present, Wu Daidai has joined us at Manlindes to carry out cello education courses.
As a soloist, she has performed in China, North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. She has collaborated with orchestras such as the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in Canada, the Adelaide Chamber Orchestra in Australia, the Auckland Symphony Orchestra in New Zealand, the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra, and the Xi’an Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many famous conductors, such as Gennady Rozhestvensky, Neeme Jarvi, Eliahu Inbal, etc.
The awards she has won include: Special Prize in the Professional Group of the National Secondary School Art Competition in 2003; Third Prize in the Junior Group of the Fifth National Youth Cello Competition in 2004; Second Prize in the 21st Gispore International Music Competition in New Zealand in 2009; First Prize in the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition and the Singapore Commonwealth Scholarship of the Royal Over-seas League in the UK.
In 2001, she was invited to participate in the 6th Morningside Music Bridge in Canada; in 2008, she participated in the 1st Adelaide Cello Festival in Australia; in 2010, she participated in the Graz Music Festival in Austria and the Edinburgh National Music Festival in the UK.
