Zhong Kaili began learning the violin at the age of four under Professor He Li from Qingdao University of Science and Technology. At fourteen, he transitioned to viola studies with Professor Zhang Xiangrong, former principal violist of the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra. At fifteen, he toured six European countries with the Qingdao Youth Orchestra, showcasing remarkable musical talent. He later continued his studies under Professor Sheng Li at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

At eighteen, Zhong was admitted to the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, where he studied under renowned viola educator Professor Han Jiguang. During his time there, he served as Associate Principal Violist of the conservatory orchestra and participated in various research and performance projects led by Professors Jia Wei, Han Jiguang, and Sun Xiaosong — building a strong foundation in both performance and academic study.

He furthered his education at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana (University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland), studying with internationally acclaimed violist Yuval Gotlibovich. He also received guidance from distinguished artists including Pavel Berman, Omar Zoboli, Aldo Campagnari, Massimo Quarta, and Garth Knox. During his studies, he held five solo recitals, performed in numerous chamber concerts, and played with several orchestras — gaining extensive stage and international experience. He graduated with a Master’s degree with distinction.
