We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Melody Strings for giving our two boys the incredible opportunity to experience and learn the violin! Both boys were selected for their Charity Programme, where they received 10 complimentary lessons over two weeks. At the end of the programme, my elder boy even had the chance to perform in a recital at the Victoria Concert Hall—what an unforgettable experience! To be honest, I was initially quite skeptical. My boys had no prior music background, and the idea of learning to play a song on the violin in just two weeks—let alone performing in front of an audience—seemed nearly impossible. The learning curve was steep: from learning how to hold the violin and bow with proper technique, to mastering fingering and different strings, and finally playing an actual piece of music. But thanks to the patience, dedication, and encouragement of their amazing violin teacher, Yang 老师, they did it! The intensive daily classes certainly helped, and while they still have a lot more to learn, this experience gave them a taste of what it’s like to be a budding violinist practicing and performing on stage—something I believe will become a core memory for them.Today’s recital was truly special. It featured not only the performers from the Charity Programme, but also seasoned students of various ages, all mastering different string instruments. I was genuinely mind blown by the talent of these young musicians—some of them playing the cello and violin with such skill and confidence! We also got to meet several of the school’s music teachers today, and it was clear how much effort and heart they’ve put into preparing their students for both lessons and the performance.Honestly, the violin was never an instrument we had considered signing our boys up for, but this opportunity opened our eyes—and ears—to how beautiful and moving string music can be. Thank you again, Melody Strings (and Yang 老师 for this enriching and inspiring experience!

We were fortunate to be part of the charity program that offered 10 free violin lessons for my two boys. At first, I was a bit skeptical, but I was pleasantly surprised by how professional and well-run the program turned out to be.Teacher Yang is an excellent teacher—very patient, encouraging, and skilled at working with children. In just 10 lessons, both of my boys were able to learn and master a piece, and even performed in a recital, which was a proud moment for all of us. They genuinely enjoy their lessons and always look forward to their time with Teacher Yang. What stood out to me was how accommodating both the teacher and the school were. There was no pressure to continue after the free lessons, and everything felt very sincere and student-focused. Compared to other schools we tried trial lessons at, this one felt more professional, with a bright, clean, and conducive learning environment.I’m truly grateful for the opportunity and would highly recommend this school to anyone considering music lessons.

We registered for cello and violin trial because my boy is keen to take another instrument. And as part of the 10th anniversary the school will give students 10 free lessons. We were happy that Cellist Teacher Chris gave my boy the trial. As we proceeded to the Violin Teacher Yuki, the bad experience started. Instead of providing the violin trial, she began talking about the T&Cs of the 10 free lessons. Her body language and tone was bad, as if looking down on parents seeking for free 10 lessons. We asked if she can give him a trial, she reluctantly brought in a violin and handheld him playing the 4 strings within 5min and told us to leave as she has lessons. There were no students waiting outside the studio. The trial is to let the child try the instruments to decide instrument he prefers and if the teacher is suitable. The T&Cs of the 10 free lessons should be mentioned upfront before we come down and if we do not agree, we will sign for normal lessons. It is difficult to setup company, I hope the reputation the founder built won't be pulled down by such arrogant behaviours of teachers.

We participated in the charity programme, and all they asked for in return was a Google review! There was no hard-sell. The receptionist and teacher were very pleasant. The one to one violin classes were probably around $600 in value which they gifted for free. The teacher was Qian Laoshi, she seems to be from China but studied in the USA. She tried her best and managed to communicate sufficiently in English, but Chinese-speakers would fully benefit from her expertise. We were very impressed by her sky-high standard and passion. She was meticulous, cheerful and patient in her instruction making each session enjoyable and packed with intricate information.the newly renovated space had sound-proof studios for each teacher, Qian Laoshi's room has a great view of the waters at east coast.if we were living closer to parkway parade we would definitely consider Melody strings for long-term lessons.Do consider them, you will not be disappointed!

Teacher Derek is very patient and encouraging. He plans recitals which helps to build my daughter’s confidence level. She shows a lot more interest and strives to do better. The exposure to competition and be part of an orchestra have been a highlight for her.
