The 2019 Singapore International Strings Festival is now open for registration!
All Chamber Orchestra and Junior Orchestra members will be required to participate, and will be automatically signed up for the Orchestra category! Please only fill out the form if you wish to additionally participate in Solo or Chamber music categories.
We encourage all Melody Strings members to apply for additional categories, and be a part of this wonderful opportunity to compete for awards in varying categories. Please read on for details!
HOW TO APPLY:
- Email us at qin.yun.melody@gmail.com with “Application Form” as the Subject, and state your interest in applying.
- A PDF application form will be emailed back to you.
- Please fill it out electronically and email it back to us, or print, fill, and scan it, and email it back to us.
- Please also attach a scanned passport photo of the contestant(s) in youe email to us.
- Solo competition applicants, please prepare a fee of $180 to be paid to Melody Strings in Cash or Cheque.
- Orchestra competition applicants, please prepare a fee of $30 to be paid to Melody Strings in Cash or Cheque.

COMPETITION CATEGORIES
Solo:
- Youths Group (Professional / Leisure) (18 and Above)
- Juniors Group B (Professional / Leisure) (16 – 18)
- Juniors Group A (Professional / Leisure) (13 – 15)
- Kids Group B (10 – 12)
- Kids Group A (7 – 9)
- Child Group (6 and under)
Ensembles, Chamber Music, Orchestra:
- Youths Group (18 and Above)
- Juniors Group (13 – 18)
- Kids Group (7 – 12)
PROGRAMME AND TIME GUIDELINES
Solo:
- Youths Group (Professional / Leisure): 2 pieces from different time periods, total runtime under 15 minutes.
- Juniors Group A & B (Professional / Leisure): Two pieces with contrasting styles, total runtime around 7-10 minutes.
- Kids Group A & B: One piece, total runtime under 5 minutes.
- Child Group: One piece, total runtime under 3 minutes.
Ensembles, Chamber Music, Orchestra:
- Youth Group: 2 pieces from different time periods, total runtime around 8-10 minutes.
- Juniors Group: 2 pieces from different time periods, total runtime around 6-8 minutes.
- Child Group: 1piece, total runtime around 3-5 minutes.
COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS
- All soloists must play from memory
- All solo category participants must perform with piano accompaniment (Pieces written without accompaniment excluded)
- All participants must be in formal wear and concert-appropriate attire during performances.
